Spring Solar Diagnostics
Solar is about the lowest maintenance thing you can put on a roof. That is not the same as no maintenance, so this spring we are running a fixed-price diagnostic, $450 + GST, across Southern Sydney. See what it covers.

Advice from Tim
Thirty years in the electrical trade, and solar is the part customers ask me about most. Usually: do I need to do anything to it? Mostly, no. There are no moving parts and nothing to service the way a car needs servicing. But a system left alone for five or six years quietly stops giving you what you paid for, and almost nobody notices. Solar has no way of telling you it is underperforming. It does not stop, it does not make a noise, and the app still shows a number. Just a smaller one than it should be.
So we work through the places where output actually goes missing. The inverter first, because it runs every daylight hour and gives up before anything else, usually by derating or dropping a string rather than failing outright. Then the wiring, where cracked rooftop isolators take water and a whole string disappears without a word. Then the panels, inspected for cracking and hot spots, and the grit and moss along the bottom edge of each frame that rain cannot shift.
The last piece is knowing where you stand: what your system should be producing on your roof at this time of year. That comparison is the point of the whole exercise. Sometimes the honest answer is that nothing needs doing, and that is a good result too.

A solar system will not tell you it is failing. It will just quietly earn you less.
Spring Solar Diagnostics
One visit. We test the inverter, the wiring and the strings, inspect the panels, connect your monitoring, and hand you a written report on what your system is doing and what it needs. Residential systems across Southern Sydney.
$450+ GST
Residential systems. The only variable is difficult access, which we raise before we start. Commercial systems quoted separately.
-
01
System health check
Your whole system measured against what it is rated to produce.
-
02
Inverter functionality
The part that fails first, tested properly rather than read off the screen.
-
03
Wiring tests to panels
Strings, isolators and connectors checked for water, heat and dropouts.
-
04
Panel inspection
Condition written up: cracking, delamination, discolouration, hot spots.
-
05
Battery feasibility report
Whether storage stacks up on your tariff and usage. No obligation.
A short written report
What we found, in plain language, with anything worth doing set out and costed so you can decide in your own time.
All of it is optional. Plenty of customers read the report and do nothing further, which is a perfectly good outcome.
-
01
Panel cleaning
Priced on what is actually up there, from a quick wash to an inch of moss.
-
02
Repairs or replacement
Old panels, tired wiring or a failing inverter, costed separately so you can stage it.
-
03
Replace over repair
On older systems the rebates can be claimed again on a new system. That closes in 2030.
-
04
Adding a battery
What it would take, and whether it stacks up for you.
Get it checked before the long days arrive.
