Solar & battery for farms and agribusiness

Irrigation pumps, dairies, cool rooms, sheds and packing lines run on some of the most expensive rural electricity in the country, often at the end of a weak line where supply upgrades are quoted in six figures. Generation and storage on site is frequently cheaper than the upgrade.

01 · What is in it for you

Cheaper than upgrading the line

01

Pumping is a huge, predictable daytime load

Irrigation runs when the crop needs it, which usually means daylight in the warmer months, the same hours the array is generating hardest. Very little goes back to the grid.

02

Avoid a network upgrade you cannot justify

Where a rural supply is limited, adding generation and storage behind the meter can add usable capacity for a fraction of what the distributor quotes to strengthen the line.

03

Insulate the operation from outages

Storage keeps dairy plant, cool rooms and stock water running through the outages that come with long rural feeders, which protects product and animal welfare.

What we would specify for your site

Brand agnostic. Panels, inverters and batteries chosen on warranty and serviceability, sized from your interval data.

ComponentTypical scaleWhat it delivers
Roof or ground-mount array30 kW – 1 MWPowers pumping, sheds, dairy and packing load.
Battery storage100 kWh – 1 MWhRuns pumps outside daylight and backs up critical plant.

03 · Scope of works

One contractor, whole job

Rural sites often need distribution work between buildings, new sub-mains and network coordination. Being a commercial electrical contractor means one party is responsible for the whole thing.

Answers before you enquire

Anything else, send us an enquiry or call Tim on 0409 986 882.

Ground-mount or roof?

Whichever is cheaper for your yield and site. Sheds are convenient and free of land use; a ground-mount can be optimally oriented and easier to expand. We cost both.

Can it run the pumps on its own?

Direct solar pumping works during the day. To pump outside daylight you either draw from the grid or add storage. The model shows what each option costs per megalitre.

What about dust, hail and stock?

Panels are rated for hail and cleaning is part of the maintenance plan. Ground arrays are fenced and cable runs protected from stock and machinery.

Is there rural funding available?

STCs apply, and agricultural energy efficiency programs open periodically. We will flag anything current when we quote.
