NSW battery discount for businesses
Since 1 September 2026, NSW businesses installing a battery between 20 kWh and 30,000 kWh can get an upfront discount under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme. The NSW Government puts it at 20 to 40 per cent of the upfront cost. We size the battery, install it and arrange the discount as part of your quote, so it comes off the price upfront.

What the NSW battery discount covers
You don't apply for this one. The discount is created through the scheme and taken off the installed price.

Where a battery earns its keep
Demand charges and tariffs
If peak demand is a visible line on the invoice, or there's a wide gap between peak and off-peak rates, storage usually has a case. We read your interval data first and tell you if it doesn't.
Solar you already have
Existing solar improves the case, because charging from your own generation is cheaper than charging from the grid. It isn't a prerequisite.
Backup for the loads that matter
A battery can hold critical loads through an outage if it's designed to. Tell us at the start which loads matter and we'll price that setup.
One contractor, whole job
Battery projects are electrical projects first: siting, switchboard work and the network connection decide the timeline.

How much is the NSW battery discount for businesses?
It depends on battery capacity, design and certificate values. The NSW Government says it cuts upfront costs by 20 to 40 per cent, with examples of around $37,000 for a small business such as a grocery store and around $355,000 for a medium business such as a dairy farm.
What size battery qualifies?
Batteries from 20 kWh up to 30,000 kWh. Small and medium businesses fall in the 20 kWh to 200 kWh range, and larger commercial and industrial sites above 200 kWh.
Do we need solar to get the battery discount?
No. Battery-only installs qualify for a lower incentive. Installing the battery with new solar gets the standard, higher incentive.
Can it be combined with other rebates?
Yes. It can be combined with the federal solar rebate for commercial rooftops, and batteries under 100 kWh can also stack with the Cheaper Home Batteries program.
How do we claim the NSW battery discount?
You don't lodge anything yourself. The discount is delivered upfront through government-accredited suppliers. We arrange it as part of your quote, so it comes off the price.
