EV fast charging for drive-through & fast food sites

Fast food and EV fast charging run on the same clock. A 20 to 30 minute DC charge is exactly one meal, so the charger earns from the energy and the kitchen earns from a customer who would otherwise have driven past.

01 · The commercial case

Why this pays for itself

01

Matched to a 10–20 minute stop

DC output sized so a meal-length stop delivers real range, the only charging speed that suits drive-thru trade.

02

A reason to choose your site

On a highway run, the site with working DC wins the stop over the one without it.

03

Roll out across the network

One spec, one commissioning process, replicated site by site across franchise groups.

02 · Recommended setup

What we would specify for your site

We are charger agnostic. Hardware is specified from all major AC and DC brands to suit the site, not a supply agreement.

SpecificationWhereWhy
DC 75–150 kW Forecourt bays near the entry Charge completed inside a single meal.
AC 22 kW Staff parking Low-cost staff charging on shift.
Payment & app listing Whole site Tap-to-pay and visibility on charging maps.

03 · Scope of works

One contractor, whole job

Most EV installers stop at the charger and call an electrician for everything else. Supply upgrades, switchboards and network coordination are our core trade.

Is EV charging profitable for a fast food site?

It stacks two returns: margin on the energy and incremental food sales from drivers who stop to charge. Whether the energy alone pays back depends on tariff, utilisation and site traffic. We model it as part of the proposal.

How fast do the chargers need to be?

Fast enough to finish inside a meal. That generally means 75 kW or more; below 50 kW the charge outlasts the visit and bays get blocked.

Will DC fast charging need a supply upgrade?

Often, yes. High-power DC is a significant load. We assess the supply, price any upgrade, and as a commercial electrical contractor we deliver that work ourselves.

Can chargers be installed without closing the restaurant?

Yes. Bays and civil works are staged section by section, generally outside peak trade, so the drive-through and dining room keep operating.
