Fleet EV charging installation for depots & commercial fleets

Depot charging designed around your duty cycle: how many vehicles, how far they run, and how many hours they sit still. We size the site so every vehicle leaves charged without tripping your demand tariff or forcing a supply upgrade you don’t need.

01 · The commercial case

The Business Case for Fleet EV Charging

01

Reduce fleet charging costs

Overnight depot charging can significantly reduce reliance on public DC fast charging. For fleets returning to base each day, charging vehicles during lower-cost tariff periods can materially reduce operating costs.

02

Load management instead of an upgrade

Smart charging dynamically distributes available electrical capacity across the fleet, reducing peak demand and site overload. This can assist to avoiding electrical supply upgrade.

03

Vehicles charged and ready for operation

Scheduled charging, load management and charger monitoring mean vehicles have the energy they need before their next shift, with alerts allowing charging faults to be identified early.

02 · Recommended setup

EV Charger Setup for Commercial Fleets

We specify AC and DC EV chargers based on your fleet size, vehicle duty cycles, dwell times and available electrical capacity. As a charger-agnostic installer, we can select from leading brands to design the right charging system for your operation.

SpecificationWhereWhy
AC EV Charging: up to 22 kW Depot bays, overnight parking Cost-effective charging for fleet vehicles with longer dwell times.
DC Fast Charging: 50 kW+ Turnaround & shift-change bays Fast top-ups for high-utilisation vehicles with limited dwell time.
Smart EV Load Management Whole site Distributes available power across chargers and can reduce peak electrical demand.

05 · Common questions

Answers before you enquire

Anything else, send us an enquiry or call Tim on 0409 986 882.

How many chargers does my fleet need?

Usually fewer than the vehicle count. With overnight dwell and load management, a shared bank of AC chargers can service a larger fleet. We model it against your run sheets before specifying anything.

Will fleet charging need a power upgrade?

Not always. We assess the incoming supply and demand profile first. Managed charging frequently avoids an upgrade. Where one is needed we design and deliver it in-house.

Can we bill drivers or allocate charging costs?

Yes. Chargers can be set up with driver authentication and reporting so energy is allocated per vehicle, per driver or per cost centre.

Can the depot charge from solar?

Yes. Depot roofs are usually large and mostly unused. We install commercial solar and battery storage alongside charging so daytime charging runs off your own generation.

Is there NSW Government funding for fleet charging?

Yes. On 19 September 2026 the NSW Government announced $11.5 million for fleets of 21 or more vehicles, with up to $2,000 per AC port and $8,000 per DC fast charging port. Guidelines and dates are still to be confirmed. We provide the site assessment and costed scope the application needs. See NSW EV charging grants.
