Solar & battery for retail and shopping centres

Retail load tracks trading hours almost perfectly: lighting, HVAC and refrigeration all peak while the sun is up. For centre owners the array cuts common-area outgoings; for retailers it cuts the single biggest controllable cost after rent and wages.

01 · What is in it for you

Lower outgoings, happier tenants, better asset

01

Common-area costs come down

Car park lighting, travelators, mall HVAC and back-of-house plant run on the landlord meter. Generation cuts that bill directly and reduces the outgoings recovered from tenants, a genuine leasing advantage.

02

Refrigeration is a constant daytime draw

Supermarkets and food tenancies run cases and cool rooms continuously. That base load absorbs generation all day, keeping self-consumption, and therefore return, high.

03

It lifts the value of the asset

Reduced operating cost flows through to net operating income, and a metered, monitored array supports the sustainability credentials institutional buyers and lenders now ask for.

What we would specify for your site

Brand agnostic. Panels, inverters and batteries chosen on warranty and serviceability, sized from your interval data.

ComponentTypical scaleWhat it delivers
Rooftop or car-park array80 kW – 1 MWOffsets common area and tenancy load through trading hours.
Battery storage100–500 kWhCovers evening trade and shaves the demand peak that sets your capacity charge.
Embedded meteringPer tenancyAllocates generation to tenancies and supports on-billing where permitted.

03 · Scope of works

One contractor, whole job

Centres mean staged works, embedded networks and trading-hours constraints. We plan the program around your leases, not around our crew.

Answers before you enquire

Anything else, send us an enquiry or call Tim on 0409 986 882.

Can we pass the benefit to tenants?

Where an embedded network exists, generation can be allocated and on-billed within the rules. Where it does not, the saving lands on the landlord meter and reduces recoverable outgoings.

Will work disrupt trading?

No. Roof and car-park works happen outside the tenancy, and switchboard tie-ins are scheduled overnight or in staged outages by building.

Is a car-park structure worth the extra cost?

Sometimes. It costs more per kW than roof mounting but adds shaded parking and an obvious location for EV charging. We model both so you can compare.

How does this affect our NABERS or Green Star rating?

On-site generation improves the energy rating directly. We provide metered data in the format the assessor needs.
