Solar & battery for warehouses and distribution centres

A distribution centre roof is the largest unused asset most logistics operators own. Put generation on it and you cover lighting, refrigeration, forklift charging and, increasingly, the electric fleet parked outside.

01 · What is in it for you

The roof is already paid for. Make it earn.

01

Enormous roof, low competing use

Nothing else uses that area. A DC roof routinely supports an array several times the size the site consumes, which means room to cover future automation, cold storage or fleet charging without a redesign.

02

Refrigeration and forklifts are daytime load

Cool rooms, dock levellers, high-bay lighting and forklift charging all draw while the sun is up. Self-consumption stays high, and high self-consumption is what drives the payback.

03

It sets up fleet electrification

Depot charging is the next capital ask. Sites with generation and storage already installed can add charging bays on the existing supply instead of paying for an upgrade.

What we would specify for your site

Brand agnostic. Panels, inverters and batteries chosen on warranty and serviceability, sized from your interval data.

ComponentTypical scaleWhat it delivers
Rooftop array200 kW – 3 MWCovers lighting, refrigeration and materials handling through the day.
Battery storage200 kWh – 1 MWhShifts generation into evening despatch and shaves demand peaks.

03 · Scope of works

One contractor, whole job

Warehouse roofs mean long cable runs, multiple switchboards and often a tenant-landlord split. We design the electrical infrastructure around all three.

05 · Common questions

Answers before you enquire

Anything else, send us an enquiry or call Tim on 0409 986 882.

We lease the warehouse. Who pays for it?

Several models work: landlord funds and recovers through rent, tenant funds with a make-good agreement, or a shared arrangement. We will put the options in writing so both parties can see the numbers.

Can the roof structure take the load?

Modern portal-frame roofs usually can. A structural engineer signs off before installation, and we include that assessment in the feasibility.

What if we automate later and load increases?

We size the system with headroom and design the switchgear so additional strings or storage can be added without rebuilding the connection.

Does it work with our fleet charging plans?

Directly. Solar, storage and charging are managed as one system, so daytime charging runs off generation and overnight charging is scheduled around your tariff.
